Herbert J Finn (1860-1942). Watercolour, coastline castle seacape. Signed bottom left hand corner, dated 1927. Colours remain good. This is an interesting composition comprising a small bay and beach, a hilltop castle and sailing boat. The picture is 31cm x 39cm in a damaged frame (top right hand corner).
Herbert John Finn was a painter and etcher who studied at Kensington, Paris and Antwerp. He exhibited at The Royal Academy, Birmingham, Liverpool, The Royal Society of British Artists, Arthur Toooth and Goupil. He was mainly active in London and Folkestone. The National Gallery of Victoria, Australia houses a collection of 12 of the artist’s works.
