Herbert J Finn (1860-1942). Watercolour, mountainous landscape. Signed bottom right hand corner but no date. Colours remain good. There are a couple of small black dots towards the top right hand corner of the painting. There is some water damage to the mounting which does not appear to have affected the painting. The picture is 28cm x 38cm in a slightly damaged frame (bottom left hand corner).
Herbert John Finn was a painter and etcher who studied at Kensington, Paris and Antwerp. He exhibited at The Royal Academy, Birmingham, Liverpool, The Royal Society of British Artists, Arthur Toooth and Goupil. He was mainly active in London and Folkestone. The National Gallery of Victoria, Australia houses a collection of 12 of the artist’s works.
